Happy Birthday To Me!

This fortnight the theme over at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge Blog is "Happy Birthday".  My birthday is next week so I wanted to choose the theme of 'Happy Birthday'!  When I celebrate my birthday I like to do it for an entire month!  Do you?  Next year will be a BIG year for me...Half a century old...I'm thinking I need to do something HUGE!  LOL  This year I'll be spending it in Guam with my daughter.  Yay!  Sun and humidity when it is freezing here in Boise, Idaho!  haha

Back to the challenge and my entries using Rick St. Dennis' images.  For this first card I used the image "Party Pixie".  I added a couple of stick pins that I made,lome lace, some pearls, a bow and a fun sentiment from Create With TLC.

The other card I made I used the image 'More Cake'.  For this one I added some ribbon, some pins, burlap a big cupcake button and a sentiment from Create With TLC.

A New Idea

Okay, so, this one is sort of a twist on all of these fun shaker cards that everyone has been making...  How about an etch-a-sketch card?  LOL  I was walking around the dollar store last night and saw these adorable mini Etch A Sketch toys and thought, 'Hey!  I need to make a card using one of these!'.  LOL  So I started to look at the shaker cards online to get some ideas on how I could maybe go about doing it...  It's a card and a gift all in one!  :)

I started with a solid piece of cardstock, first I thought, hey, I cold use this long skinny oval punch for the slide and 'pen' spots, but, the carstock isn't quite sturdy enough for that to make it so the card would hold up for very long with use; so I scrapped that idea and went with starting on the edge of where they both end.  I then cut out the center using my cutting tool.  I used an fun image from Whoopsi Daisy that I had from when I was on their DT.  I used word dies for the sentiment, added a butterfly and some gems and bam!  That was the top.  I used hot glue to put it onto the card base.  I thought it would be fun to put the age on the center...I just put 5 because...well...why not?!?!  haha

Blue and Buttons

It's time for another challenge over at Incy Wincy Designs.  This fortnight the challenge theme is "Blue and Buttons", our sponsor is Little Blue Buttons!  Cute huh?  I played with the stamp set called 'Happy B-day Charlie".  This set comes with the image and four sentiments, I used two of the four.  It's been a while since I've made a step card, so I decided this one would be fitting for it.  I added three buttons and some hemp twine for a bow.
