Graduation/Inspirational Cards

Last week I won over at Cute Card Thursday.  I got to pick two images from All Dressed Up.  I didn't realize that with one of these images it was actually and truly four images.  I chose "Wear With Style" as one of my picks.  I colored all four images but only used two so far.

Due to the fact that when I sit down to make a card I have absolutely no clue what I'm going to do, it is just easier to color all of them then go for it.  I decided to make at least one of these my daughter's graduation card (the blue one).  The other could be used as a graduation card as well, but both are most certainly uplifting and inspirational sentiments.

For the green and orange card I used a kraft paper card base and used scrap papers that I had laying on my desk (this is a common thing for me to just grab papers from off of my messy work space and use it on the project I'm working on).  I used my new tag die set for both cards.  First I used an embossing folder, then cut the tag out.  I used my buttfly thinlette from Stampin Up for the butterflies.  As for the funky background...I used some copper and some silver glitter mist spray, then used some fun glittery dobber paints (they smell like fruits).  I added a scrap string of pearls, some flowers, some gems and a bow.  Isn't it funny that when we make things and look at the finished project we wish we would've done something else?  In this case, I wish I'd used an embossing folder on the orange layer...Oh well, I still like how it turned out.  :)

For the blue card I used two of the tag dies from my new set, a small brown 'lace' doily, more of the butterflies, gems, hemp twine, string pearls, flowers and the fun DP is from a pad set called Lost & Found from My Mind's Eye.  For both cards I added the girls using pop dots.

"None Of Us Are Perfect"

Today while checking on my favorite Saturday challenges I noticed Crafting With Dragonflies was doing a DT Call/Challenge.  One of my favorite things about this DT is that they get to use any image in their files.  I have so many images but don't get to use them since I'm so frequently using the ones I need to use for my other design teams.  I'm glad there are sponsors, however, I am also glad when I get to play with any image...

For this design team call they are having us use a hand drawn dragonfly and a sweet story to go with it, that goes with the title of my post.  I love the stained glass look, it works so well with the glitter gel pens.  Because I wanted this dragonfly to stand out, I kept the background part of the card lighter, but still versatile enough to have the colorful butterfly added to it.  I went with pink, black and gold.  I used a new die I recently got from Wish.com.  I added some ribbon and some tiny gems.  I added a little bit of Glossy Accents on the center of the dragonfly.

I totally love this sentiment, laughed so hard...Makes me giggle ever time I read it, because my mom can't laugh hard without having "tears" run down her legs..

I made another Z fold card but this time I flipped it and had the flip go to the right.  I kept it rather simple, I only added a few silver gems, a string bow and a charm.

This fun card was made for the Cute As A Button Progressive Challenge.  This is Aviator.  I did this as a pull-out card.  I used some cute Carta Bella papers, added some cloud dies and some fun gems.  Not my best coloring job, but...how many lil' boys care?  LOL  Maybe the wrong attitude, but, truly!?!?!

Pretty Fun Fold

Tonight I decided to try something new to me...I don't think I've made one of these before.  I love how it opens and closes and still leaves room to leave a message, unlike some of the other fun fold cards I've made.  I used a pre-colored image and paper from The Paper Shelter.  The image is called The Lady & The Fountain.  I added gems, flowers, a porcelain bird, a stick pin I made and some pink & purple pearls.  I drew some stitching around the image.

What is really cool about this fold is that you can make two of these with one sheet of 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock. The card measures 4 x 8-1/2, the strip is 1/2 x 8-1/2.

A look through the window

I've gotten a lot of fun dies recently, and they're still arriving in my mailbox.  I've fallen in love with Wish.com!  I've purchased so many dies and still haven't gotten to how much it would cost in the store.  The only thing is having to wait for things to arrive.  LOL

This card I used the kitty cat dies I just got.  I've had the fence, tree, window dies and the flower edge punch was already in my collection.  LOL  I used a bunch of pop dots between he fence, window and the kitties.  I also added some hemp and some gems.  I chose to make the playful cat orange and the sitting cat black because that is so much like my bf's cats.  LOL

Mary Poppins

This week in Boise Idaho it is Music Week!!!!  Now that may not mean much to most of you, however to me that means going to free shows and performances.  This year their big play is Mary Poppins, and I'm going tonight with some girlfriends!  I'm so excited!!  Mary Poppins was always my favorite show growing up.

A Mother's Work...

One thing I've learned as my three kids were growing up is that a mother's work is never done.  Even now, having a 27 yr old, I am still Mom!  My 23 yr old is in Guam for a few months and all I do is worry, even tho I'm happy for her.  This Cute As A Button image reminds me of when my baby was a baby and my oldest daughter was about to start Kindergarten.  This is called "Working Mom".

For this card I used lace, a doily die, flowers, and a sticker strip.  The image was colored with ink and gel pen.

Another Furever Friend Gone

Yesterday my boyfriend's mom had to put her beloved pet down.  He was 15 and had cancer.  Sometimes I wish we could legally make that choice for our human loved ones who are suffering with no chance of change, but I'm sure that is opening a can of worms many would truly be upset over.

I made this card using a sweet freebie image I found, a sentiment I created, a new butterfly die I just got, some flower stickers, some gems and some cheese cloth.  I tried to keep this relatively easy using just the two colors of cardstock and making it smaller, so it is only 4-1/4 squared.  I love how it turned out!

I made this sweet card using an image called "Boarding With Mom".  I felt like it was more like a big sister...So, that is how I made it.  I created this sentiment specifically for this image.  I colored this with ink and chalk.  I stuck with the blue and the yellow just to keep it more...clean, I guess.  LOL  This is for the new CAAB Challenge.

This sweet card was made for this fortnight's challenge over at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge Blog.  We have to fun sponsors for this challenge, Diddybag and Studio Duda.  The challenge theme is Clean and Simple.  The image I used on these two cards was from Diddybag.  I used a couple of digi papers that were pre-laid out along with the sentiment., I just added the image and the gems.  I used the sketch from last week's challenge over at Tuesday Morning Sketches (which unfortunately ended early).

This other card is a slider card, made using the same sketch only the Monkey image slides up and down.  Fun!  This one isn't so simple, except for the layout...

This was made for Incy Wincy Designs challenge this fortnight.  The theme is "Clean and Simple".  We have two sponsors Diddybag and Studio Duda Digi Stamps.  I used a Studio Duda image for this card.  One thing I love about digital stamps is that you can add the sentiment exactly where you want it in situations like these...  I did the 3d effect adding a second image of her (one that is all colored up using gel pen and ink) with pop dots.  I also added a ribbon and some gems.  This may be 3 layers, but it was still kept CAS.  :)
