Flying By

This is the image being used for the current progressive challenge over at Cute As A Button's Facebook Group.  The flying nun was a fun tv show!  :)  For this card I used a neighborhood die, some cloud dies, some gems, ribbon, and an angel charm from a bracelet I purchased at a garage sale yesterday.

You Turn Me On

It took me a while to think of a fun sentiment for this one.  I first started thinking "I'm not too bright" or "You're not so bright", then thought...nah, that is too demeaning.  So then I thought of the turning on theme.

Lil' Princess

At this very moment Rick St. Dennis is having an awesome sale!  I just purchased a downloadable coloring book called "Little Loves" and colored a bunch of images after cropping them so I could turn them into cards.  This is one of the images I cropped and colored.  I colored the unicorns main and tail in rainbow colors.  I used mostly gel pen, however for her skin tone I used ink and for the horse body I used pencil.  I used the Sweet Sketch Wednesday layout,m used a lot of dies (well...five of them), added a flower and a bow and called it good enough.

Miss You Owls

I was laid off from my job a while back and before my last day found another job within our facility so was able to just transfer.  There were some who were not so lucky, including my old boss.  We will be having a potluck farewell party for her.  I was asked to make her a card.  I wanted to make something for her that might make her smile so I tried a shaker card and used owls (she loves owls) with googly eyes.  I also added some lace doilies and some flowers.

Altered Pringle Box

While hopping around checking out blogs for some inspiration I stopped at 613 Avenue Create and came across this fun little idea of a trinket box made from a Pringles Can...something I just so happened to have.  Then I decided I wanted to make this using the "go green" theme using all recycled items on it.  I may have fibbed the theme just a bit with the bow and the lace...but it was scrap ribbon and scrap lace I had laying around.  My daughter started using her old jeans to make doll clothing and this was from a pair she had already started to cut up.  I used part of the leg and a pocket and the button from the front of the jeans.  I added string pearls, and beads from an old broken necklace (for the feet).  This was so fun to make!!  The tutorial on how to make this can be found here.

Bird House / Altered Book Project

The silly story behind this project:

I've been working on getting ready for the State Fair, A few years ago my daughter and I started entering some of our crafts into the fair, it's now become sort of an addiction!  LOL  I decided to do another altered book project, problem is, I had no clue what I wanted to do.  I could remember my mom taking old magazines or maybe it was phone books and making angels from them...So, I started with that idea.  I grabbed two Sports Illustrated Magazines that my boyfriend hasn't even looked at...(he never really does, he is usually too busy watching sports on TV to read about them in some magazine!  LOL).  Pretty soon I was going nuts gluing things to this.  I had some larger flowers I got from Wild Orchid Crafts that are just a tad bit too big for card projects, a spool of string pearls, and a ton of other items I had laying around in my craft room, a lot of which came from a co-worker.  After I got everything all glued on I went to pick it up, not even thinking it would be flimsy...well duh, it is paper!  So after some self deliberation, I decided to make a trip down to the Idaho Youth Ranch (a second hand store) to see if I could find some kind of plate or platter to put it onto.  I found this nice heavy pie/cake platter.  It has an internal crack inside the glass near the edge so I talked them down on it and only paid a dollar... (Normally I don't barter at a second hand store, but this was broken and I wasn't sure it would work.  LOL)  After gluing my project to the platter I thought it looked sort of boring...well, the thing itself wasn't, it was crazy busy!  haha...  I decided to add a few flowers, some gems and some string pearls all around it.  I decided to share this 'thing' on Facebook and some friends told me it was a pretty "Birdhouse", so, I'm going with it!  Yep, this here thing is a "bird house"!  haha  I hope the judges at the fair like it!
